greetings from another hillbilly red state,...a small victory for good christian patriots everywhere! the u.s. air force academy has finely put the breaks on the bible thumpers "out thar." the people effected are evil evangelistic christians employed by the academy, who have been tormenting and harrasing any cadets who dont see things "thier way." its not an issue about free speech, its an issue about discrimination. good christians like me and others, dont want to be condemned to hell simply because we dont belong to a certain church. we dont like being told that we are communists and baby killers simply because we vote democrat (or republican). anyway, the bible thumpers had their way for years at the academy, preaching their evil desire to control people everywhere. the complaints mounted and mounted until finally the issue had to be addressed. simply put, we are under attack here in the united states as well as overseas. the enemy is the christian right wing (and the islamic right wing overseas). both do not like the freedoms we have and will stop at nothing to force their agenda on good people everywhere. i have issues with these people. they dont want elected officials, they want church leaders to run governments (and they call us communists LOL!). whats all this have to do with iraq?, a lot! the poor people of iraq have no freedoms with the new constitution. they are surrounded by "koran thumpers" and will have no say in thier new government...,craiger...

the iraq constitution is doomed to complete failure. the reason is simple: there is no seperation of church and state. people should also know that many religious christians here in the united states want the same type of government that they have in many nations in the middle east. there is little difference between terrorist muslims and people like pat robertson. both want their type of religious rule and many christians here believe democracy is an evil. they even call democrats here in america un-american and tie democrats to the terrorists in the middle-east. they(bible thumpers) want to change the role of the supreme court(how dare the supreme court protect the rights of the non-religious?) the new terrorists here in america(right-wing religious groups) want rule by the bible, not the constitution. people like eric rudolf will kill and bomb in the name of our god. they want to change the constitution so that religious leaders can run our nation. radical muslims want the same thing in iraq and iran. they want to control things like what women wear, for example, and they dont believe in free speech. our founding fathers had a very sound reason for excluding religion from government, they were tired of people killing other people in the name of god and they wanted a government run by people("we the people"), not a church or religion. im almost finished with my rantLOL! the point is, i didnt travel half way around the world to fight terrorists just to learn they are right here in my own back yard. make no mistake about it, people like pat robertson and jerry falwell are the new terrorists and the best way to defeat them in a democracy like ours is to not vote for the people they support. i only wish the poor secular iraqis could do the same in thier nation. democracy is dead in the muslim middle east. dont let that happen here (ie, vote you slugs!...LOL!)...craiger

greetings all,...im no longer in iraq but i cant help comment from time to time when news surfaces from the middle east. people still visit this site from time to time so maybe additional insight from an old soldier might help them learn more about the war (and i can rant about how evil republicans are,..) ive always supported the war in iraq, despite being lied to about the reason for war (why lie? saddam alone was enough of a reason to go into iraq) my gripe is the way the war is being waged (thats just the infantry in me:complain, compain, complain:waaaa!LOL) not enough troops, disband the only local army in iraq, get little or no support from the rest of the world, lie about everything and anything in iraq (ie,WMD) the list goes on and on but the big problem in iraq is the iraq constitution. our founding fathers (my ancestors and good christians all of them) had the good sense to separate church and state. would you want pat robertson and jerry falwell running our government? i think not (remember that few religions elect their leaders so a state church would not work in a true democracy) it is no different in iraq. women in iraq dont want the "koran thumpers" telling them what they can wear and not wear. they were" more free" under saddam so why support a constitution that is based on religious text? like oil and water religion and government dont mix (everybody here has a different view concerning the bible, for example) the solution for my nation is to elect democratic leaders to clean up the mess the republicans are creating here and in iraq. i hope that iraq may some adapt the same noble goals,...

greetings all! i havnt really blogged an entry since i returned from iraq just over a year ago so i am surprised that people still read this blog. it all started when my wife started posting our e-mails to each other after i deployed to iraq. i was on the front lines during the start of the iraq war and she thought it would make interesting reading( i was attached to the 5th special forces group a a weapons specialist and later served with the special troops bn in baghdad).i had served in the military befor(when i was youngerLOL). i enlisted in the marine corps in 1976 and after college i served in the army and army reserve as a light infantry officer until 1990. so when my national guard infantry unit was deployed to kuwait in 2002 alot of people were surprised(some of us are over 40 for lords sakeLOL!) anyway, my wife stuck by me, e-mailing when we could communicate. i was with special operations, so we had all the good equipment and later we were well taken care of by I corps. i guess we were luckier, in that respect, than some of the troops that went "up north" at the time(forget the "up-armour",put shocks on them thar vehiclesLOL!). we kept in touch, my wife every bit a part of the war effort as anyone. i wanted for nothing because anything i might have needed was sent to me. if anyone reads my blogs they will read about the bad and the good. i wasnt happy when i got to baghdad because the republican guard had been disbanded and everyone knew that meant more work for us. i bitched alot. we got little rest when we first arrived and spent most of our time sitting in fox holes and going on patrols. later we ran check points and spent alot of time getting rid of saddams ammo (one dump was in less than fifty feet of a school). i bitched some more when i knew we would have to stay in iraq. i remember most blogs at the time were about politics and not so much about individuals. i always supported war in south central asia after 9-11 because we need to get the bad guys but i am a democrat (and i dont support bush!). i always felt that we botched the iraq war because we didnt send enough troops and did little to get more help from other nations(not to mention the lies about WMDs,etc). anyway, i cant trust a president who gives tax breaks to the wealthy and cuts aid to the poor( i have a business degree and that" trickle down theory "sounds like pure" crappola" to me). my ancesters founded this nation and served in her wars so i tend to get a little pissy when people claim to own my flag or bible. well, i could go on and on about how evil republicans are but i can save that for another blog(sometime soon ill write about being in baghdadLOL!),...craiger,letters from baghdad...

greetings all! i cant help but notice that a lot of people ask the same questions when they learn i served in iraq. never mind that we were attached to the special forces prior to the invasion of iraq or that later we escorted bigshots (and septic trucks) around baghdad. people shot at us and rockets zoomed over our area from time to time but the question people ask the most is "will iraq become a real country?" im sorry but my answer is" no". they are not off to good start and one of the reasons is they(iraq) have no seperation of church and state in thier constitution. our founding fathers made sure in our constitution that no one church could run the country. people who dont know much about the united states should know that some people here want a church run government but they are not a majority, like the radical muslims in iraq. here, the "bible thumpers", like falwell and robertson, urge viewers (followers) to vote christian and pray for an opening on the supreme court (thats evil!). good christians and others here in the u.s. feel democracy and religion in the u.s. dont mix, not because they are bad but because a church or religion often does not elect its leaders from the community and in a democracy leaders must be elected by the community. i feel sorry for secular western people in iraq at this point in time. i dont think iraq should become hard-core muslim like all the other nations in the region simply because many people are not used to that lifestyle(in baghdad anyway). all of this makes me even more proud to be an american (ie, no one here can make my wife where a scarf on her head, etc). we should treasure our rights and freedoms and know what they are. history is on our side, however, here in the west(unlike the muslim world in iraq). for example, the religious here in the united states will not be able to stop stem-cell research because this is a democracy and a vote will decide that issue at some point in time. they(bible thumpers) could not stop the telescope or the printing press and it is unlikely they will be able to stop new medical research. as far as iraq is concerned we (the u.s.) seem to have a "when in rome" attitude when it seems more could be done to help that nation. i was told by someone who spent time in afgahnistan that some tribes in the east thought the world was flat. the soldiers were advised to accept that the world was flat when dealing with the locals. we should all know were still worlds apart,...craiger/letters from baghdad...

greetings all! i just had to post one more time after mentioning "chicken hawks" in my last post. some people may not know what a "chicken hawk" is. i can tell you that its not a bird that eats chicken. no, a chicken hawk is a human coward who advocates war against others but will not participate in war. i have lost friends in iraq so i have no respect for chicken hawks,no time for their hate speech and i wish i had the power to draft these people into military service for combat in the worst of places. i'm proud to have served in the armed forces. its just something everyone should do. i served in both the marine corps and the US army, as an officer and as an enlisted man(during peace and war). i am also proud of the fact that my ancestors founded this nation and that i am a democrat(not a chicken hawk republicanLOL). i really dislike chicken hawks(you can tellLOL). i remember i was standing check point duty with another soldier west of baghdad (in the middle of the night,in the middle of nowhere) and we had only about 300 rounds of ammo between us when we heard about president bush's "bring it on" speech. is president bush is a chicken hawk? anyone at the checkpoint thought so. rush limbaugh is not only a big fat liar,he is a drug addict and a chicken hawk. limbaugh says things like "journalists rejoice and cheer at each new service members death in iraq" how would he know? is he with the reporters when they cheer and clap for joy at each new death? naw,he and other chicken hawks run thier mouths just for the sake of being heard, they are scum. if people really care about this great nation of ours they should vote for the democrats. if people are of age, they should enlist in the armed forces and help in the war against terror (dont be a chicken hawk). well, i could go on forever about how evil the republicans and chicken hawks are but there are better things to do on a sunday afternoon. its a lot more fun working in my garden or sailing on a lake but i cant forget about those serving, still doing the worlds hardest job. lets not ever forget the people who lost their lives "over-there" and lets not give up on the war on terror just because the chicken hawks and republicans are stupidLOL!

greetings all! its nice to be home from war! how soon we forget, however, the others who are still there or going there (we've been home from iraq for over a year now but it seems like only yesterday we were standing in the hot sun or riding along on really bumpy roads). now that i'm home from baghdad i try not to become too upset at the politics i see going on around me. the "chicken hawks" in politics upset me the most. they preach war (and vote republican LOL) but they wont enlist in the armed forces. many have never served in the armed forces and others dont even know anyone serving in the armed forces.my point is, why do we (the soldiers) have to feel alone in this war against terror? why dont those republican chicken hawks swell the ranks of our patriot warriors? anyway, here in this "red state" the armed forces are having a tough time recruiting and im still not sure why. i dont think its just the iraq war that keeps people away. its always been tough to recruit people for the armed forces here and that may be the case long after the war in iraq ends. most of the people i knew overseas were serving in the military from a sense of duty after 9-11, regardless of politics. for example, many of the people i deployed with thought the WMD issue was bullshit but still felt a duty and obligation to get rid of a real evil, saddam hussein. well, no rambling on and on for me, (ill save that for my next post; "the republicans are trying to trash the USA" (and they are stealing your hard earned money!)...
